Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 cup bell peppers, sliced (choose red or yellow for a vibrant dish)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided for cooking)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

2 green onions, finely chopped, for garnish

Cooked rice (choose white or brown) for serving

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, oyster sauce, and rice vinegar. Mix thoroughly until all beef pieces are well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to enhance the flavor.

Prepare the Vegetables: While the beef is marinating, rinse the broccoli under cool water. Cut it into bite-sized florets and slice the bell peppers. Set both aside for later use.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat until it begins to shimmer.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Carefully add the marinated beef to the hot pan in a single layer. Allow it to sear without stirring for about 1-2 minutes to achieve a nice brown color. Then, stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is just cooked through. Once done, remove the beef from the pan and set it aside on a plate.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Introduce the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing them for about 30 seconds until they emit a fragrant aroma. Next, add the broccoli florets and sliced bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender yet maintain a crisp texture.

Combine Everything: Return the sautéed beef to the skillet with the vegetables, mixing gently to allow the juices from the beef to coat the vegetables. Drizzle sesame oil over the mixture and stir to combine thoroughly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat everything evenly.

Serve: Serve the savory stir-fry over a generous bed of cooked rice. Garnish with finely chopped green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for an extra layer of flavor and crunch.
