Ingredients

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup canned chili (your choice: with or without beans)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup diced onions (optional)

1/4 cup diced jalapeños (optional, for a spicy kick)

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Sour cream and chopped cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). To make cleanup easy, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough: Carefully unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles. To ensure the filling doesn’t leak, press the seams together at the base of each triangle to create a solid surface.

Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the canned chili, shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to evenly distribute all ingredients for a balanced flavor.

Assemble the Melts: Take one triangle of dough and place a generous tablespoon of the chili cheese filling at the wide end. Roll the dough from the wide end up to the tip, making sure it’s snug but not too tight. Place each assembled roll on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have space in between.

Egg Wash: Using a pastry brush, apply a layer of the beaten egg on the top of each crescent melt. This will help achieve a beautiful golden glaze during baking.

Bake: Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed up and beautifully golden brown.

Serve: Once baked, remove the crescent melts from the oven and allow them to cool for about a minute. Serve warm, garnished with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro to elevate the flavors.

                Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 8

                  - Presentation Tips: Arrange the melts on a vibrant serving platter, drizzle a bit of sour cream over the top, and finish with fresh cilantro for a pop of color and freshness.
