Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 green onions, sliced, for garnish

1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish

1 cup jasmine rice

2 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Rice:

Begin by rinsing the jasmine rice under cold water, ensuring the water runs clear to remove excess starch. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice with 2 cups of water or chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan and let the rice simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid. Once cooked, fluff the rice gently with a fork and season with a pinch of salt, if desired.

      Make the Glaze:

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil until thoroughly combined. This sweet and savory glaze will enhance the flavor of the salmon beautifully.

          Prep the Salmon:

Pat each salmon fillet dry using paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets lightly with salt and pepper, ensuring an even distribution of flavor.

              Cook the Salmon:

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil to coat the bottom. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down. Cook the fillets for approximately 4-5 minutes without moving them, allowing the skin to become crispy. Gently flip the fillets using a spatula.

                  Glaze the Salmon:

Lower the heat to medium-low, and pour the prepared honey soy glaze over the salmon fillets. Continue to cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, basting the salmon with the glaze as it cooks. The glaze will thicken and turn sticky, coating the salmon beautifully.

                      Serve:

Once cooked, fluff the jasmine rice and divide it among serving plates. Place a honey soy glazed salmon fillet on top of each portion of rice. Drizzle any remaining glaze from the pan over the salmon. For an appealing presentation, garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Optional: Include lemon wedges on the side for a bright, zesty finish.
