Once boiling, add the spaghetti or fettuccine, cooking according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the starchy pasta water for later, then drain the pasta and set it aside.

    Prepare the Creamy Sauce: In a large skillet set over medium heat, pour in the olive oil. When the oil shimmers, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if you desire a bit of heat). Sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is aromatic but not browned.

      Add Cream and Citrus: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer, then carefully add the heavy cream, lemon zest, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir to combine and let the mixture simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
