1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for garnish

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a touch of heat)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, fill with water and add a generous pinch of salt to season. Bring the water to a rolling boil. Add your pasta of choice and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Before draining, reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water. Drain the pasta and set it aside in a colander.

    Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, pour in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium heat until shimmering. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent and softens.
