1 lb (450g) pizza dough (can be store-bought or homemade)

8 oz (225g) Italian sausage, casings removed

1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup (120ml) marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Olive oil (for drizzling)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). While it's heating, line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

    Cook the Sausage: In a medium skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Cook until it’s browned and fully cooked, using a wooden spoon to break it apart as it cooks. Once done, drain any excess fat and let the sausage cool slightly.

      Prepare the Dough: On a generously floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, aiming for a thickness of about ¼ inch. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice the dough into long strips, approximately 1 inch wide.

        Fill the Twists: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Stir until well mixed. Take a generous spoonful of this filling and place it at one end of each dough strip.
